Jaguar Song
PRIMORDIAL is inspired by surrealism and rites. The music charts a course through the half-lit worlds of Sokolović and Saariaho, the surreal evocations of Dusapin and Kurtág, the ritualism of Eötvös, and the pulsating, subterranean electric-folk of Desenne. Forming the spine of this programme are fragments of works by John Cage. Even when performed at the height of noon, this music reflects the uncannily short, dark days leading to the winter solstice on December 21.
